Mark McGwire is coming back to the Cardinals as hitting coach and I am glad. He has recived a bad rap for doing something that was legal, and people question his authenticity. He admitted doing androstenedione which at the time he did it was completely legal. Maybe we should revoke "Big Sam" Thompson's titles because he drank a coke which contained cocaine at the time. If you are going to be the best at your sport you do what works and is legal. Androstenedione works and was legal. If you read more about it you find that it was classed as an anabolic steroid by a law, even though there is very little evidence that it is. Do we really want to put him into the same category as those who admitted like Canseco, or those accused like Bonds and Clemens?

I am going out on a limb here and could very well be eating my own words. This is because Mark McGwire could be caught as a steroid user, which I think is unlikely. The more likely way I will eat my words is if he turns out to be a terrible hitting coach. As a Cardinals fan, I hope he does well. As a baseball fan, I hope we give him a break.
