Not since Sodom and Gomorrah have a people had to suffer so much in one year. Mexico started with an environment of corruption and abject poverty. This baseline is well below what the normal non-African is willing to put up with. What recipe of troubles can be cooked up to make life any worse?

Just for fun, try adding an all out war with drug lords. This is further complicated because the previously mentioned corruption was sponsored by said drug lords. So police are leaving their posts and soldiers are going AWOL. Just to remind you, Mexico has strict gun laws so the population can't defend themselves against these new troubles.

If you are thinking that this drug war isn't enough, add in a rare mutation of a virus that attacks pigs but now is killing people. This new addition will be the death nail for the barely surviving industry of tourism. Now you have hundreds of people sick and possibly dying. Great nothing says come to lovely Mexico like a pandemic.

If you weren't convinced that this is the beginning of some sort of biblical plague because you hadn't seen locusts maybe a 5.6 magnitude earthquake will help convince you. Mexico City was rocked by an earthquake that thankfully hasn't caused widespread damage. Whatever it is that Mexico did wrong they had better figure it out before the next quake hits.

I just pray that Mexico isn't Gomorrah, and we aren't the Sodomites.
